Group Programs

Exploring the natural world with hands-on learning.

School Programs

Peck Farm Park Interpretive Center offers a variety of programs for students of all ages. Programs start at an hour and a half in length. An outdoor lunch area is available for group use.
Fees:
All School Districts:  

1 1/2 hour program: $3 per student
2 hour program: $4 per student
2 1/2 hour program: $5 per student

Prairie Biodiversity

Learn the concept of “biodiversity” and investigate a small section of prairie. Students identify, count, and record the species in their plot to figure out the biodiversity. Help Peck Farm with prairie restoration efforts through seed collection. Students learn all about seeds, how to identify plants and how the Park District establishes and maintains the prairie. Best Time of Year: September-November

Insect Program

Learn about insects at Peck Farm Park. Children collect and identify various species of insects while learning about their adaptations (Best Time of Year: May-June & September). A separate Butterfly Program is also available. Learn about metamorphosis, butterfly behavior, and the differences between butterflies and moths (Best Time of Year: September).

Scout Programs

Following is a listing of programs we offer at Peck Farm Park. Staff can also customize a scout program to any specific requests. All programs run 1-1½ hours. Most programs are held outdoors. Program fee is $2 per resident scout or $3 per non-resident scout but no less than $25 for any size group.
