Jenny Duffy

Born and raised in the UK, Jenny pursued her passion for dance by attending a three-year Professional Musical Theatre Diploma Course at Midlands Academy of Dance, in England (known in the industry as MADD College). From there, Jenny worked as a professional dancer, performing on Mediterranean Cruise Liners, and at resorts, concerts, and theatres throughout Europe and the UK.

Jenny has always had a passion for teaching dance, and started assisting with classes at the age of 14. She qualified as a dance teacher through the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) in Ballet, Tap, and Jazz, and loves to choreograph Hip Hop and Musical Theatre routines. After starting her family, Jenny taught at her former dance school in England before she and her family moved to the States due to her husband’s work.

Jenny has resided in Geneva for nine years, and has fallen in love with the town and the people. She’s looking to further inject herself into the community by joining the Sunset Dance Academy, and sincerely hopes to inspire her students with her love of dance.

Ellen Gierthy

Ellen has been teaching dance at Park Districts and Private Dance Studios since 1996. She enjoys teaching ballet, jazz, and tap to all ages of dancers, but she especially enjoys teaching our youngest students who are experiencing dance for their very first time.

Ellen attended the University of Illinois at Chicago and graduated in 1995 with a BA in Psychology. Although dancing is one of her favorite things to do, she also enjoys gardening, decorating, shopping, and sharing fun and crazy adventures with her 7 year old son!

Tanya Osika

Tanya Osika put on her first dance shoes at the age of three. She never imagined her first dance routine (that included mouse ears and tutu) would initiate such a strong love affair with dance. From classical ballet to tap, Tanya’s insatiable desire to learn has led her to study almost all forms of dance.

Growing up in the dance studio and the competitive dance world, Tanya had the pleasure of studying dance with talented choreographers and master teachers such as Mia Michaels, Doug Caldwell, and Jay Fagan. She is passionate about continuing her dance education, and annually attends Rhythm World workshops where she has been able to study tap technique with artists such as Derick K. Grant, Dianne “Lady Di” Walker, and Bril Barrett. Recently, Tanya had the honor of studying jazz dance with Chicago jazz legend Nan Giordano and completed the Basic and Beginning Level Teacher Certification Programs.

Besides being an award-winning performer and choreographer, Tanya holds a degree from Columbia College and is a talented graphic designer. She is currently working towards a certificate in Business Management from Waubonsee Community College. Tanya truly adores teaching, and loves inspiring others to pursue their dancing dreams.
